About playing with advanced charachters - Guild Wars Forums

Hi! I thought, that it's better to ask one guestion before I buy the game. I have many friends who play Guild wars, but they have more advaced charachters. One of them has a twenty level priest/necromancer. So, is it possible to play with them as a group, when I'm a noob. Or shall from that happen for example something like that, that somebody doesn't get experiense or gets it really little.

Yes, your friend can play with you though it will be easy and possibly boring for him, he will get little to no experience if ou are playing in the low end areas of the game. I wouldn't recommend bringing a high level character with you everywhere, the game is supposed to be a challenge and pwng your way through it isn't the way i'd choose to play. Each to his own.

I'm assuming you're asking if they affect the amount of experience you get. The answer is yes and no.

Yes because the more people in your party the less experience you get as a whole. i.e. soloing will give your more than if you took hench or a pug with you.

No because your experience isn't dependent on his level. While he may get little to none you will get the full amount (according to party size).

your friends can play with their veteran characters and it will not have any bad affects on the game. i do this often when i "Rush" people through missions. your friends can help you and cut weeks or months off the total time it would take you to level up and beat every mission on masters.

plus they can help you farm some items for a jump start. this is assuming your friends are not the generally selfish and kinda lazy players that plague gw. normally it takes 3 days or more to beat any of the games if you have friends helping you daily with everything. thats why its called a "Rush"
cause you get rushed through the game. you level faster and gain access to the best loot in the game alot faster.

One thing of note is that although it's fun to finish things quickly with overpowered players with you, I don't really suggest it early on, at least not your first time playing. That's when you're supposed to learn how to play and how the game works. It's better to struggle (really isn't much of one) early on than later on when you're expected to have at least a decent grasp of the game. If everything's pretty much dead before you blink, there's clearly not much going on there. Try things at least a couple times, then ask for advice if you need it, then if it's still impossible, see if a friend can come.

If you intend on starting with Prophecies, your friends would need to have a character in what's called Pre-Searing, since you can't return to it after you leave the area. You won't need to return there after finishing all of the quests (or only the required ones, if you want), though.

For Factions, the first two missions on the start island won't give you experience points or mission bonuses, if one of your friends' characters is from Prophecies or Nightfall.

What about, if I go to do quests ment for the levels of my friends? The following is off topic, I know. How long will it take about, that my charachter becomes twenty levelled, if I play the game two hours per day in weekends and one per weekday? Hope you can make this out.

The quest reward is always the same, no matter what level you are. The foes will of course be much higher level than you, so you'll get more experience from them if you manage to stay alive.

How long does it take for you to level up to 20? It really depends on your campaign. Prophecies has the slowest pace, Factions gets you up there really fast, and Nightfall is somewhere in between. I wouldn't bother thinking about it, because even though the game "starts" when you get to lvl 20, its the journey, not the destination that makes the whole thing worthwhile

I know that some games powerup a lower level player when they're with a higher level player, but GW doesn't. You'll be the exact same, so you're more likely to get targeted first and die far more easily, since you'll most likely have less health and armor.
